Most Promising Invention in the High School Category of the National Inventors Week Invention Contest, November 2005. His project is a computer-based monitoring and control system of water level in dams and oil reservoirs which uses a PC sound card for its data acquisition. The system he developed can also be modified to monitor temperature and depths of liquid in a container. He received a plaque and 15,000 pesos. He also won a separate award from Philips and received a plaque and a P25,000 cash prize.

Grand Champion2005 Trend Micro P1M Tech Challenge of Developing a Network Security Application, November 22-25, 2005, Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila. The team IITians developed a client-server application that detects and cleans a new and fast spreading worm that infects a network. The application also prevents re-infection of the client PCs. Adjudged as the over-all champion, the team brought home the Php1,000,000.00 grand prize as well as individual trophies and certificates of priority employment for the team members and a trophy for the school.
